The North Carolina Stream Mapping Project is an effort led by NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (CGIA), a division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The goal of the project is to provide a more accurate, current, and complete mapping of rivers, streams, and other water bodies in the state. This data will benefit business processes and decision making by state agencies, local governments, stakeholders in the private sector, and general public. The project leverages the State’s investments in statewide elevation data (using LIDAR technology) and the digital aerial imagery resources of counties and the state.
